Campaign Priority 1 of 4
Public Safety
Safer streets, stronger communities, and real accountability in policing — not just warm words from people who have never walked those streets at night.
Women's safety — in Sherrie's own words
Ask any woman about the last year. She has a story.
Mine. Groped on the tube. Followed off a train. Strange men. Strange questions.
It is rising. Every woman I know is feeling it, because police charging rates have collapsed.
This is not the price of being a woman in Britain.
Every woman deserves to walk home without holding her keys between her fingers, on the phone to someone, or carrying a hot drink.
What Sherrie is calling for
- Mandatory minimum sentences for sexual assault, stalking, and violence against women — no suspended sentences, no early release
- Charging rates for rape and sexual assault restored to at least 1 in 3 within five years, with named accountability for every police force that falls short
- Specialist domestic abuse and sexual violence units in every police force, staffed by officers trained to believe and investigate — not dismiss
- Lifetime registration and electronic monitoring for serious sexual offenders, with automatic deportation for foreign nationals convicted of these crimes
- Safer streets funding ring-fenced for lighting, CCTV, and visible patrols on the routes women actually walk home
